To address this challenge, I have developed a pre-data-room unconventional shale economic screening platform that combines traditional petroleum engineering workflows with Agentic AI review.
The purpose is practical: help private equity groups, investment bankers, angel investors, small oil companies, and consultants form an early technical and financial view of an asset before committing major time and due-diligence cost.
How It Works: The Deterministic Engine
At the core of the software is a deterministic engineering and economics engine. It evaluates PDP, DUC, PUD, and exploratory acreage using type/combo curves, oil, gas, and NGL forecasts, cumulative EURs, and key economic metrics.
These include NPV10, IRR, VIR, payout period, breakeven oil price, and suggested bid value. The tool also separates Asset PV from Transaction PV, recognizing that a strong producing asset can still become a weak acquisition if the entry price is too high.
Agentic Review and Benchmarking
To make this data actionable, the platform utilizes specialized Agentic AI software. Five dedicated digital agents evaluate the asset simultaneously: main screening logic is driven by subsurface and financial evaluation which drive the core evaluation (weighted heavily at 50% and 35%). supported by additional agents covering land and regulatory issues, facilities and midstream constraints, and operations and supply-chain risks.
These agents benchmark assumptions, critique the case, flag inconsistencies, identify red flags, and highlight the key risks to examine if the opportunity moves forward into the data room.
